RANCHO CORDOVA, CA—December 6, 2006—Hansen Information Technologies (Hansen®), a leading provider of enterprise applications for the public sector market, today announced that the City of Fort Wayne, Indiana has gone live with Hansen 8 Citizen Relationship Management (CRM), Work Management, Inventory Control, Street, Sewer, and Storm and Water. Fort Wayne chose Hansen solutions to act as the cornerstone of their effort to streamline business processes, track assets and work assignments, and support overall long-term asset management.

“The City has used asset management for years, but the existing hardware platform has become obsolete,’ said James Haley, Fort Wayne's Associate Director of Utilities. “Hansen 8 will allow the City to take advantage of advances in asset management technology and facilitate business process improvement. It can position our agency to maintain service levels while our population grows, and allow us to publish key performance indicators in real time.”

The Hansen 8 solutions are replacing a variety of homegrown legacy systems—some in use in Fort Wayne for over fifteen years. The new Hansen 8 system will contain more than 400,000 unique assets, 176,000 pieces of inventory, 350,000 addresses, and 76,000 codes (including Street IDs, contractors, manufacturers, and pop-up code types).

This milestone is the end result of a ten-month project that included all aspects of Hansen’s standard project methodology—from Business Process Review sessions and Core Team Training to Change Management activities, Application Set-up, End-User Training, and Go-Live Support.  The project team, made up of Hansen and Fort Wayne staff, worked closely together throughout the entire process, communicating with weekly conference calls, more than two dozen site visits and WebEx sessions, and over 4,000 emails.

The data conversion analysis and its coding—a comprehensive effort that included eight different major sources of data—was spearheaded by Fort Wayne staff. Fort Wayne staff also wrote their own reports using the Crystal Reports XI Developer licenses delivered along with Hansen 8.

The system is currently in daily operational use by five units within the City.  Planned for implementation in early 2007, Hansen’s Map Drawer product will be integrated with the City’s Intergraph environment.  This is a precursor to an eventual move to Hansen’s GeoAdministrator for Intergraph.  An interface to the City’s 311 system, OneCall, will also be developed.

“The Fort Wayne project has demonstrated a tremendous partnership,” said Hansen Assets Business Unit Director Peter Pagonis. “Team members from Hansen and Fort Wayne have worked diligently to avoid emulating old processes and develop new business practices from the ground up. I believe the adaptability and level of customization of Hansen 8 is clearly showcased with this implementation.”
