Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, Alberta, Awards Contract to Implement Hansen 8 for Various Operating Departments
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
RANCHO CORDOVA, California - September 15, 2005 - Hansen Information Technologies (Hansen®), in partnership with its wholly-owned subsidiary, Hansen Information Technologies - Canada, Inc., today announced that the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, Alberta (Canada), has awarded Hansen a contract to provide the Municipality's various operating departments with Hansen 8, a 100% browser-based solution that will help increase efficiency and enhance customer service to its estimated 73,000 residents.
Selecting Hansen 8 represents Wood Buffalo's goal to implement an enterprise-wide system that will support and streamline the operations of various business units within the municipality. Work groups from the Parks and Recreation, Engineering, Operations and Maintenance, and Fire departments will benefit from the comprehensive system. With Wood Buffalo experiencing tremendous growth throughout its regional communities directly related to the development of their oil sands, the implementation of Hansen 8 will be a strategic component in helping manage growth of the municipality.
"We are extremely pleased to work with Wood Buffalo to provide a comprehensive enterprise solution built on Hansen 8," said Chuck Hansen, Chairman and CEO. "We look forward to providing one of Canada's fastest growing municipalities with solutions geared to enhance operations and better serve their constituents."
Through Hansen 8's suite of solutions, Wood Buffalo's operating departments will be able to enhance workflow and customer service processes. Specifically, Hansen 8's Roadway, Sewer, Water, Storm, and Building solutions will help these departments provide better customer support. In addition, Plant, Fleet, Parks, and Customer Service modules will also help improve municipal operations.
Inventory Control, Budgeting, Planning, Resource Management, Community Development and Regulations (CDR) and Hansen's Intergraph-related GeoMedia (GIS) products are also offered. Wood Buffalo will be positioned to develop and implement efficient methods of managing assets, building and use permits, and licensing within the corporate GIS environment.
"We are very happy to begin this exciting journey with Hansen. Everyone from Hansen has been very accommodating and helpful so it gives us a sense of comfort. We feel extremely confident in our decision to choose Hansen," said AnnMarie Sutton, Project Director, Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. "The scope of this project is a lot bigger in scale than any other project we've taken on, but we feel that with the blend of our internal resources and Hansen's external resources, the implementation of this project will be a huge success."
Hansen 8 supports an advanced 100% web browser-based architecture that allows government agencies like Wood Buffalo, to provide users with a flexible, intuitive and easy-to-use solution to enhance their operations. Hansen 8 is a 100% server-side, i.e. ZERO client-side, software solution that eliminates the need to load, maintain, or support application code on remote PCs - a key factor in serving jurisdictions that are large or widely dispersed. Hansen 8 does not require any third-party plug-ins, adaptors, or message brokers, commonly required in Java and J2EE solutions.

| About Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo, Alberta, Canada
Stretching from north-central Alberta to the borders of Saskatchewan on the east and Northwest Territories to the north, the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo ranks, by area, among the largest municipalities in North America. Covering 68,454 square kilometers (i.e. 26,430 square miles) of land area, the regional municipality encompasses both vast stretches of pristine wilderness and one of the fastest growing industrial communities in Canada. According to Wood Buffalo's 2005 Census population is 73,176, which includes the communities of Anzac, Conklin, Draper, Fort Chipewyan (Alberta's oldest community), Fort Fitzgerald, Fort Mackay, Fort McMurray, Gregoire Lakes Estates, Janvier, Mariana Lake, Saprae Creek and the work camps.
Bolstered by the extraction of the world's largest known deposits of bitumen-rich silica, or 'oil sands' that underlie the region, the municipality's dynamic economy is currently undergoing aggressive growth. Expanding energy developments create both exceptional opportunities and challenges for businesses and lifestyle choices for residents. Such growth has created a challenge for the current public works infrastructure along with higher community expectations in relation to new infrastructure services.
