City of Las Vegas Goes Live with Hansen’s DynamicPortal® for Online Scheduling of Inspections
RANCHO CORDOVA, CA—March 08, 2007—Hansen Information Technologies (Hansen®), a leading provider of enterprise applications for the public sector market, announced that the City of Las Vegas, Nevada has gone live with Hansen's DynamicPORTAL to manage online scheduling of building permit inspections for the City's Building and Safety Department and Fire Department.
The City currently processes approximately 1,000 over-the-counter and residential inspection requests daily between the Building and Safety Department and Fire Department. That number is expected to grow to approximately 1,800 per day when the DynamicPORTAL functionality is extended to commercial projects. In preparation for this growth, the City needed a system to streamline inspection scheduling.
The City of Las Vegas began using Hansen products in the year 2001. Since the initial go-live of the DynamicPORTAL Permitting product, approximately 20% of customers have been utilizing it to schedule inspections. The City predicts that number will grow to about 80% by the end of the month as the City's education campaign about the new service continues.
Prior to using DynamicPORTAL, customers were only able to utilize the City's existing IVR (Interactive Voice Response) system to schedule inspections. While this solution worked, the City wanted to ensure that customers could schedule inspections in a variety of ways, including using the Internet. "This solution is consistent with the City's eGovernment initiatives. As corny as this may sound, we prefer to give our customers options to the services we provide," said Chief Information Officer/Director of Information Technologies, Joseph Marcella. By allowing citizens to schedule inspections over the Internet, it allows for citizens to provide inspectors with additional information such as preferred times for inspections, gate code information, or other types of special instructions. Overall, the DynamicPORTAL system allows the City's customers to schedule inspections quicker and more efficiently than only by phone.
DynamicPORTAL also provides the City with an additional layer of security that authenticates customers with a pin number that is only given to permit applicants. "The pin authentication has provided CLV customers with the security levels they were hoping for so unauthorized personnel are prevented from scheduling inspections," said Enterprise Program Manager, Patricia Dues. "The customer is also able to obtain and print previous inspection history for their own records."
The City is an enterprise-wide Hansen client that uses Hansen's Version 7.x Accident, Advanced Inspections, Billing, Building, Community Development and Regulation (Code Enforcement, Licensing, Permits/Planning, and Work Notice), Complex, Custom Menu Editor, Customer Service, DynamicPORTAL for Customer Service and Permits, GIS, Industrial Waste, Inventory Control-Advanced, Mobile Solutions, Parks, Pavement, Plant/Fleet, Roadway, Sewer, Storm, Street, Tab Editor, Visual Resource Manager, and Water modules.
