SACRAMENTO, CA, February 23, 2004 – Hansen Information Technologies (Hansen®) announced today that legendary rhythm & blues band, Tower of Power, will provide entertainment as part of Hansen's Network 2004 User Conference scheduled August 29-September 2, 2004 at the Resort at Squaw Creek, Olympic Village, California.

"I am delighted to have such a critically acclaimed – not to mention one of my favorite – bands perform for our customers, business partners, employees, and their families," stated Chuck Hansen, Chairman & CEO of Hansen. "Since several band members are friends of mine, I was grateful they were able to change their previous bookings to attend this event."

Tower of Power became a fixture in the San Francisco music scene in the 1970s with their first record release in 1971, East Bay Grease, for Bill Graham's recording company. The rest is history. Hits like You’re Still a Young Man, What is Hip? and Soul Vaccination have established an international following leading to more than 30 CDs. Melding jazz, funk, rock and blues, singer Ray Charles says, "when it comes to straight-up R&B, no band kicks it like Tower of Power." While a recent review called them "tighter than a clenched fist." When not in the studio, the band tours worldwide, recently completing a tour of Japan, with an extensive European tour starting later this month. Last year the band played for the first time in Cape Town, South Africa.

Long considered as having one of the greatest horn sections in the business, and a frequent guest band on the David Letterman show, numerous recording artists have sought them out to play on their records, including Aaron Neville, Bonnie Raitt, David Sanborn, Dionne Warwick, Elton John, Huey Lewis, Rod Stewart, and Santana. They have also influenced a generation of musicians, including Sting, who told founder Emilio Castillo that he once had a "Tower of Power clone-band" before he formed The Police. Band personnel include Emilio Castillo (saxophones), Stephen ‘Doc’ Kupka (baritone sax), Tom Politzer (saxophones), Adolfo Acosta (trumpets), Mike Bogart (trumpets and trombone), David Garibaldi (drums), Roger Smith (keyboards), Jeff Tamelier (guitar), Francis Rocco Prestia (bass) and Larry Braggs (vocal).

Closed to the general public, attendees of Hansen's 2004 Network Users Conference will get an exclusive opportunity to see and hear Tower of Power (http://www.bumpcity.com) play their favorite tunes in a tribute to recipients of Hansen's Annual Power User Awards.

If your government agency has limited funding, or you can only attend one conference this year, make sure you take advantage of Network 2004’s early registration opportunities so you can attend what many users, prospects, and business partners simply call, "The Best Government IT Conference, ever."
