FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Redmond, Washington, January 7, 2004 – Hansen Information Technologies (Hansen®) today announced its schedule for a 35-city North American roadshow, in partnership with Microsoft Government, beginning February 17, 2004 in Richmond, British Columbia. The roadshow announcement was made at the Microsoft Public Sector Partner Technical Briefing in Redmond, Washington. As part of each city site, Hansen will showcase its 100% Internet web services applications that help state and local governments manage their entire enterprise.
Hansen’s next generation product, Hansen 8, is based exclusively on Microsoft’s .NET technology and Microsoft’s Foundation Framework, featuring:
- ZERO Legacy Code – it is been re-developed from the ground-up
- ZERO Client-Side Software – it uses a 100% server-side deployment
- ZERO 3rd Party Middleware – no message brokers or adapters required for client-side installation
Roadshow Theme: "Helping To Manage The Business of Government"
Today’s government leaders are trying to make it easier for citizens and businesses to do business with their government. In order to make this happen, they need to consolidate their information silos, streamline their workflows, and deploy new age systems that match their business practices, oftentimes requiring data to be accessible by different departments across the government enterprise. By eliminating client/server and legacy applications, and deploying a new generation of software that is accessible via a common web browser, government agencies can reduce their IT support costs, eliminate the hassle of managing software upgrades, and stretch their investment in desktop PCs.
Commercial software systems are typically designed to maximize a company’s product sales to their customers. In contrast, most people view government as an inconvenience, wishing to minimize their interactions. Recognizing the need to reduce a citizen’s interaction with their government to a bare minimum, while optimizing a government’s resources, Hansen has designed the next generation in Government IT solutions – allowing users to custom-define their own user interface, business rules, and terminology – exclusively using standard web browsers.
Recommended Audience
Hansen’s 2004 Roadshow is targeted towards senior government administrators, city managers, department heads, CIOs, CFOs, and government IT professionals, who focus on the management of government services and the allocation of scarce resources. A business-level discussion of Hansen’s new web services products and their impact on your operations will be offered followed by a hosted luncheon featuring a government case study, and drawing for an enterprise (agency-wide) license of Hansen’s Executive Dashboard. By offering strategic insight into the role that technology plays in government, and discussing key business processes that can deliver the greatest return on investment, government leaders will know Hansen is uniquely positioned to help optimize their resources.
Each seminar is free of charge and will be approximately 3 hours in length, including a hosted (free) lunch.

Special Drawing: An Enterprise License of Executive Dashboard
(Value - $25,000)
A special attraction will be the opportunity for government attendees to win an enterprise license of Hansen’s Executive Dashboard; a 100% Internet-based web services solution that allows individual users to develop custom dials, gauges, electronic odometer readings, and charts of performance indicators that are continuously updated from your agencies existing 3rd party Access, Oracle, or SQLServer databases.
Using advanced business intelligence features, Hansen’s Executive Dashboard (Value -- $25,000) does not require your agency to develop a separate data warehouse. Using Hansen’s data store concept, users can personalize their individual dashboards allowing for multiple systems, from different vendors, to be continuously updated and presented. For instance,
- Example #1. The Director of Public Works wants to be kept informed, daily, of remaining money to his annual budget. As changes occur in the city’s financial system, reductions are automatically accessed and displayed in his web browser.
- Example #2. The city manager wants to see the number of 911 calls, by precinct, contained in a standalone public safety system, and the number of 311 calls, by council district, contained in another standalone system, updated hourly.
- Example #3. A Customer Service Representative (CSR) would like to know how many calls they have taken by day and week, compared to the total number of calls taken by the entire department.
(Above) Hansen’s Executive Dashboard able to continuously update information
from multiple SQL databases readable from user-defined gauges and dials.
No previous Hansen software is required.
